This teacher's full name is Geraldine, but is better known and loved as Ms Gerri by all her friends, students and their families. Just think of Tom and Jerry - same sound but different spellings!

 

It may be hard to believe but she's been successfully teaching English online since 2018 - that's over 6 years of experience! During this time, she has worked with students from all over the world. Hosting everything from 1-on-1 online sessions, small group meetings and whole virtual classes to over 20 students. No matter the situation, she delivers lessons with gusto, professionalism and passion.

 

But her story starts way before teaching online! Gerri was born in the beautiful and historical city of York, UK (not the New one in America as she likes to joke!) And she has one younger brother who still happily lives in York with his family.

 

From the age of 20 Gerri was 'bitten with the travelling bug' as they say. Meaning she fell in love with travelling! After securing a Higher Diploma in Computer Skills she travelled around New Zealand and then worked on cruise ships for 10 years. Not only is this where she met her future husband but it is also the first place she started helping people with English.

 

Running small classes on board she not only helped the other staff but gained great insider knowledge on how to talk to people who have English as a second language. Taking this passion she gained her Teach English as a Foreign Language (Tefl) qualification back in 2017.

 

Soon after this, she moved to Indonesia with her husband and their daughter. Not only was this an exciting adventure but also a great way for her daughter to learn her father's language, traditions and customs. It was in Indonesia that Gerri really started to use her teaching qualification; running free English classes for locals, hosting conversation practice sessions, running exam courses and helping with mock testing. Finally, she then took her talents online.

 

She now has well over 7000 hours of online experience (and much more in physical groups and schools). Even with so much experience she still maintains the same level of enthusiasm and can't wait to meet you and your family. No matter your goal, she is ready to work with you.
